The Centre for Distance and Online Education (erstwhile Department of Distance Education / School of Open and Distance Learning) of Jamia Hamdard was established in the year 1989. It has been renamed as the Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE) in the year 2021 on the directions of the University Grants Commission, Distance Education Bureau. Major objective of the CDOE is to provide opportunities for higher education to those who are not able to draw benefits from formal system of education. The Open Learning System allows a learner to determine his/her pace of learning and provides education at the doorstep of the learners. The mode of transaction is through self learning material, counseling, and material through internet and various other media. The Centre for Distance and Online Education is offering various Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Diploma Programmes in Open and Distance Learning and Online mode.
