The Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University (BAOU) was established by the Act No.14 of 1994 passed by the Gujarat State Legislature on 13th April, 1994, and assented to by the Governor of Gujarat on 27th July, 1994. The BAOU is the seventh Open University in the country in terms of their establishment. The University offers 80+ programmes with an enrolment of more than 8,00,000+ learners.

Scholarship Details
A special Cell to facilitate the students of Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Socially and Educationally Backward Classes and Economically Backward Classes students has been established by the University.
Objectives
- Liaisoning with the concern departments of the government to ensure the in time applications and deposit of the scholarship by the students
- Monitoring, evaluation, and planning for ensuring effective implementation of the policies and programmes of the Government concerning, SC/ST,SEBC and EWS candidates.
- Suggesting follow-up measures for achieving the objectives and targets laid down by the Government of India, the UGC and the State Government

Placement Records & Support
Training and Placement Cell:
The university has a separate Training and Placement Cell (TPC) managed by a dedicated team. The TPC is a platform for the Training and Placement of learners and acts as a window between students and the outside organizations. The Training and Placement Cell establishes contacts with industrial houses to arrange training and placement of the learners.
The office of Training and Placement Cell guides and helps the final year students in securing fruitful career with their knowledge and achievements, by organizing campus Interviews and exploring various avenues for their placement. The university has signed MoU with various Business Organizations and Placement Agencies to train the learners for placement. The department extends all possible help and provides all available infrastructure facilities to the organizations and their respective officials conducting campus interviews in the University, regularly:
