Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University , Patan, Gujarat
The geographical jurisdiction of the North Gujarat University encompasses five districts-Mehsana, Patan, Banaskantha, Sabarkantha and Aravalli. Each one of the five district has its own distinct heritage. Geographically a part of the whole area is towards the desert of Kutchh, while on the North Eastern side are rocky regions of forest populated by the tribal. The economy of the area is mainly agricultural. There are a few towns here and no big city. The rest of the population lives in villages. With a view to catering to the peculiar cultural and educational needs of the area, North Gujarat University was established by the Ordinance No. 5 of 1986 dated 17.5.1986 which was later passed as the North Gujarat University Act No.22 of 1986 on 11/9/86 by the Legislative Assembly of Gujarat. The University has been functioning since then and growing and expanding steadily.

Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University (HNGU) is a government university in Patan, Gujarat, India. Established in 1986, the university is approved by the UGC and accredited with an ‘A’ grade by the NAAC. HNGU offers more than 100 courses at the UG, PG, and PhD levels through 19 departments and various affiliated colleges. BCA, B.Sc, B.Ed, B.Com, MBA, and MCA are flagship courses of the university. HNGU admissions to most of the courses are done on the basis of marks secured in the qualifying examination
HNGU has tie-ups with international universities such as California State University, Penn State University, West Chester University, GSW University, De Montfort University for academic excellence.
