WUD is India's first and only university dedicated to education in the creative domain, The university is established by the Haryana Private Universities Act, 2006 with the right to confer degrees under Section 2(f) and 22(I) of the UGC Act. All degrees of WUD are UGC approved.

WUD Sonepat offers degree and diploma courses in the discipline of Design, Visual Arts, Architecture, Business Administration, etc. The university’s most popular courses include a 4-year B.Des course in 10 specializations, M.Des course in 7 specializations, MBA in Design and Strategy Management, and B. Arch degree course. WUD Sonepat also offers BBA, BVA, BPA, MVA, MPA, MSc and PG Diploma courses. Candidates applying for WUD Admission are required to appear in relevant entrance tests. For admission in the B.Arch program, a valid score in NATA/ JEE is mandatory. Performance in the university's Aptitude Test is taken into consideration for admission in the other UG and PG courses offered at the World University of Design. WUDAT is an online examination of 2.5 hours duration.
