The Puri Foundation for Education in India is a charitable trust registered in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The trust is supported by the generous support from Chairman, Prof. Nathu Ram Puri, a noted NRI industrialist settled in Nottingham, UK. The Objectives of the trust include creating facilities for promotion of education and research. The trust supports and establishes schools, universities and research establishments in India and overseas. The trust also supports students from weaker sections of society to provide them with equal opportunities to realize their potential

As part of its objectives, the trust set up the Indian Institute of Advanced Research at Koba, Gandhinagar. Honorable Shri Narendra Bhai Modi, the Chief Minister of Gujarat, laid the foundation stone of the Institute in 2003. The first Centre of Excellence, School of Biological Sciences and Biotechnology was set up in 2006. It was formally inaugurated by The President of India, H.E. Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam in April 2006. The Institute was accorded university status in August 2011 by the Government of Gujarat under the Gujarat Private Universities Amendment Act, 2011. The University continues to grow with the addition of education and research programs in physical sciences, engineering, and business. The Foundation aspires that the University will become a model institution conducting education and research with real impact on our society, economy and the environment.

Scholarship 1
Government Scholarship:
- Students from SEBC, SC, ST categories can avail of the scholarship facility provided by the State Government under Digital Gujarat Portal. Institute of Advanced Research helps the students to apply in the respective categories under Digital Gujarat Scholarship schemes.
- Students from Minority Category can avail the facility of scholarship provided by the minority commission of Govt. of India. Institute of Advanced Research will publish the Circular received from the Central / State Government and will help the students to apply in National Portal Scholarship scheme from time to time.
- Students, who fulfill the eligibility criteria of the MYSY scholarship, apply under Mukhya Mantri Yuva Swavalamban Yojana (MYSY) and receive the scholarship through the direct benefit of transfer. IAR provides necessary certificates to apply in MYSY Scheme.
Scholarship 2
Merit Scholarships Scheme
Institute of Advanced Research offers Merit Scholarships to high-achieving students throughout their studies at the University and across all academic programs.
Eligibility:
Recipients of the financial assistance:
- Must be enrolled as full-time student.
- Must have scored more than 85% in 10+2 examinations for UG Program, 80% for PG Program and for PhD program must be recommended by RAC.
- Should have evidence of good moral character.
- Must meet the requirements of minimum attendance which is 75%.
- Must pass examination in each semester with minimum 8.5 SGPA without any backlog subjects in case of renewal.
Procedure:
- An institutional review committee will be set up to evaluate the received applications.
- The scholarships cover upto 25% or more on case to case bases.
- Scholarships are paid in arrears on successful completion of studies in any given year.
- The committee may invite students and/or parents for a discussion/ interview.
- Scholarships to individuals are reviewed annually.
- Every individual is given one scholarship only.
- The decision of the committee will be final.
